As a maritime historian I could only choose Fluitschip or Flute as the name of my firm. A Flute stood for a superb sailing vessel in the 17th and 18th centuries, even in shallow waters and with a large hold for Norwegian timber, Russian corn, English textiles and coal and also Japanese copper, Chinese porcelain and Indian silk.
I try to put these qualities into all my other work, ranging from local history to archival work, and also research into the art of distilling geneva and liqueur for more than fourhundred years.
